Alex Nolan began her love of guitar-playing at the age of 5 when she announced to her parents that she wanted to become a rock star. She began performing as a professional guitarist and singer at the age of 13 around New York’s Hudson Valley as well as filling the lead guitar seat in Dutchess All-County Jazz Ensemble.

After graduating magna cum laude from the prestigious Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, Alex toured nationally with the 7-piece all-girl country band “Mustang Sally” as their lead guitarist. She also toured, recorded and acted as musical director to Katie country recording artist Katie Armiger in 2008.

Alex has extensive recording experience from writing, arranging and co-producing two of her own solo EP’s, to composing and recording bumpers for CBS Sports, as well as providing lead guitar and backing vocals for an array of recording artists and ensembles.

As an educator, Alex served on the faculty of the National Guitar Workshop, taught online at for which she authored an instructional book & DVD (Play Rock Guitar), and authored instructional articles for Premier Guitar.

Alex has performed with a variety of rock, R&B, singer/songwriter and jazz musicians including BETTY, Toshi Reagon, Jill Sobule, Julia Sweeney, Sophia Ramos, Nona Hendryx, Catey Shaw, Amanda Ruzza, Morley, Joan as Policewoman.

As guitarist and singer for NBC's The Meredith Vieira Show band, Alex had performed with Ray Parker, Jr.,  Sisqó, Tag Team, Tommy Tutone, Louise Goffin, Ann Hampton Calloway, Cris Cab, among others. She is current performing with Cyndi Lauper for her "Detour" Tour.
